Oak Grove Camping

Gene and I took the 4 oldest grandsons on an overnight camping trip to Oak Grove last week.

The cabins at Oak Grove are very nice, frig, toaster, microwave, hot water and full bathroom.

It was very hot (mid 90's) and very humid but the cabin had air conditioning.

After a gourmet hot dog supper we did some hiking. The boys enjoyed exploring the trails.

Pixie and Ollie came along too. The boys took turns holding and playing with the 2 little Chihuahuas.

Tucker experimented with lighting a match and starting a fire.

Levi playing monkey in a tree.

This is how thrilled Trev is to pose for a picture :)

And on the breakfast menu. . . . Toaster Strudels and cheese eggs!

After breakfast we did a little more hiking, the weather was a little cooler than the night before.

It was a fun little camping trip, next year I think we will try to go for 2 nights.

Boy Fun!

5 of the little grandsons are here today. I pulled out my much neglected camera and captured some of the fun.

The sprinkler under the tramp provides great entertainment.

Adorable little Wilson- aren't those eyes just too much?!

Great entertainment until somebody does a nose-dive into the tramp.

Meet our 2 new babies. . . . . Pixie and Ollie. After our heart-breaking loss of Goli we purchased this brother and sister pair. The pictures are somewhat deceiving . . . they are much smaller than they appear. They are very good little Chihuahua puppies, hardly an accident in the house and they are quick learners.

I can hardly believe that I actually have flowers living under my care in August. Usually I get a few flowers in May and land up killing them by July(lack of water and care).
The abundant rain and having a water source on the patio did the trick- I can indeed grow things.

Notice- Jacob really gets into that jumping :)

All the new cement and the patio are great for the riding toys.

They are here . . . . we are home . . .

No pictures tonight. . . . .  We are home, there are here in Iowa . . . .  and now we are waiting for their possessions to arrive. It could be 10 days or more.  After all box 92 is leaking a flowery smelling liquid . . . ha
I can hardly wrap my head around the idea that they will actually be living 5. . .yes 5 minutes away!!
Bring on the Spaans boys-yes!!

Acreage Clean-Up

We plan to do a little acreage cleaning up and sprucing up again this spring/summer.
A week ago Gene (with the help of sons, sons-in law and grandsons) demolished a couple small buildings.

Grandpa Schelling did a good job in the construction of this building- we tipped it on its' roof and not a board broke.

It was almost scary how fast it caught on fire and was consumed.

Meal worm catching- need bait for fishin'!

It went from no flames to this in about a 1/2 hr.

Next up- the silo is coming down soon.
