Sweet Pics

Brent, Dana and Houston took some pics at Hill's on Wednesday- Thanks Katrina! He's such a cute little munchkin! He is a bit jaundice so they are having him checked everyday. Hopefully his levels won't be up today otherwise he will need a blanket. He really couldn't be a better baby. He just eats and sleeps. The only time we hear him cry is bathtime and when they draw his blood at the lab.

Ice

I captured a few pictures of the weekend ice storm. It was really beautiful but a little treacherous underfoot. Most of the ice melted off yesterday.

A Peek At Houston

Here's the cute little family!
We think he looks a little like Brent with his eyes open.

He looks alot like Dana and Trevor- especially the nose. Gotta love those nostrils!

Dana picked this little cow outfit out at Crazy 8 loooong ago. He is just precious in it.

Levi with his little counsin- A big Starburst in his cheek.

Belly Sisters

With Dana's delivery approaching it was time to take some pictures of the belly's. They are enjoying being pregnant together and I'm sure it will be even more fun seeing the 2 counsins grow up together!

Brent's Here

Brent surprised some of us Sunday! Since it didn't look like Dana would make it to her due date he came home a week early. Dana told a select few but the rest were pretty surprised. It was a happy homecoming!
It takes about 3 days to get here from Afganistan. He first flew to Kuwait, then Germany and finally to Dallas. He arrived in Sioux Falls from Dallas in the late afternoon on Sunday.

It's so good to see them together! Now the pressure is on- They are impatiently waiting for the little guy to arrive : )

Omaha Shopping

Dana, Joni, Levi and I took a little shopping trip to Omaha last Saturday. The guys were spending a "Hoogendoorn Brothers and Nephews" day at the gun show in Sioux Falls so we thought it was a perfect opportunity to check out the Baby's R Us store. Since we're majorly into babies right now it was alot of fun! We can hardly wait for the new ones to arrive. We thought a day of mall walking would hurry things along for Dana- but nope- no baby yet : )

Levi was such a little man! We've broken him in good, he loves to shop! We stopped in Sioux City on the way home for supper. When we got back in the car he asked "Shopping??" He was so sad, he wanted more shopping. Don't worry Jeremy, I think he just liked spending time with Daney and Grammy.

Sharing licks with Grandma. . . . .

He even took a nice snooze in my new "Black Cadillac" - a perfect umbrella stoller that I got at Baby's R Us a few weeks ago.

The Beautiful Blooming Belly Sisters!

Dana and "Baby VM"

Well. . . . .Where to begin?! Things have been a little hectic here the past 2 weeks. Dana's midwife left for a 2 week leave and Dana's body decided it really didn't like this whole pregnant business. It started with swollen ankles, high blood pressure, head aches . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . and advanced to Urgent Care and Hospitalization. On top of the swollen ankles and high blood pressure she developed an awful tooth ache(the nerve) on a tooth that had been a "touchy" tooth for a year already. Her dentist prescribed penicillin on Monday(Jan. 31). By Thursday she was in severe pain and her dentist referred her to an endodontist in Sioux City. He couldn't see her until Monday and all she could take for pain was Tylenol. Friday and Friday night were awful. She couldn't eat, sleep, talk...... Saturday I called her dentist again and we tried to contact 3 other endodonists in Sioux Falls and Sioux City- no one replied to our messages so we went to the Urgent Care clinic in Sioux Center. Dr. Rens admitted her and she spent Saturday and most of Sunday in the hospital. They tested for pre-eclampsia, that came back negative. They started her on hydrocodone and an IV and once her pain was under control and she was better hydrated her blood pressure came down.
Here she is . . .telling Brent all about it on SKYPE. We've been trying to keep him posted on how she's doing through facebook and SKYPE.

She was dismissed mid afternoon on Sunday. On Monday I took her to the endodontist. His name is Mike Wheatley- he's awesome! He numbed her up good and drilled out some stuff and put some long acting pain killer around the nerve. Then he put a temporary filling over it. The nerve should settle down over the next few days. It will still be tender, but manageable. She will have the root canal after she delivers. She's still on hydrocodone for the pain but we're hoping she can ease off of that soon. Here she is at 37+ weeks. She's doing a little better now, the blood pressure is down and the pain is ok as long as she is on the meds and "Baby VM" appears to be tolerating the hydrocodone. Poor kid- he'll probably come out an "addict" ! : )

Now we are trying to convince him that he needs to stay in there until Daddy comes home- Feb. 21.

Snowboarding/Skiing at Mount Kato

The four brothers went snowboarding/skiing at Mount Kato on Christmas break when Greg was visiting. It was pretty cool to see all 4 of them together doing something they enjoy. It's not often the 4 of them have been together. Trev was quite small when Greg went off to Ames(and beyond). It was Trev's first time on a real snowboard and he LOVED it! He's been begging to go again ever since. It was a gorgeous day- in the 30's and sunny, we even threw our coats off in the afternoon. Gene and I went down the tubing hill for a couple hours in the afternoon. It was fun but not anything like Inspiration Hills- just a straight shot down with a few minor dips. I guess that's a good thing because I'm still a little sore in the hip and shoulder from Inspiration Hills.

It was a great day and I'm sure it will be something we'll do again when Greg is visiting in the winter.
