Levi Visits the Farm and Other Tidbits

Levi visited the farm yesterday. Come on Levi. . . .smile. . . . Ok, much better!

Springtime on the farm means lots of newborn calves.

Walking hand in hand with Papa, checking things out.

(Looks like I need to sneek Genes shirt into retirement. As many of you know he has an attachment disorder with his clothing, hee hee, he probably still thinks this shirt has many more years of use.

Tyler thinks it's hot out- a balmy 58 degrees!

Next we head to the loafing shed~ ~ ~ a porker, his pork chops will be good on the grill later this summer : )

Trevors favorite cat-Tipsy. She has a brand new litter of kittens. . . . . . .

But first we have to check the goose nest. Sure enough, I big ole goose egg. They are a true delicacy to Gene and Grandpa H!

The prize egg- she lays 3-5 eggs a week.

A couple kittens from Tipsy's new litter.

Houston tries out the Bumbo Seat. He really did really well!

Here's a "Before" picture of the north side of the house. Coming later this summer- a much needed "Puppy Place" room. It is in the planning stages now, we hope to have it completed by early fall.

Ty put some more stripes on his Charger along with the sticker on the windshield.

. . . .and an elegant black spoiler. I hope he's done spending money on this machine now!

Looking a little ripe there Joni?! We are anxiously awaiting baby Spaans arrival.

A Rainy and Loooong April!

April has been extremely cloudy and rainy! We always look forward to April(spring?) but it looks like we will miss spring this year. Our highs for the day are 15-25 degrees below normal. It's been so cold that the grass isn't even growing yet. About a month ago I noticed our water bill was way too high. After much investigation and head scratching we came to the conclusion that the leak was somewhere between the hydrant by the garden and the whelping barn. Here is Gene using a piece of equipment from Hoogendoorn Construction to cap the line. The whelping barn hopes to get a new skin in a few weeks! It looks like it's high time!

The sun broke through the clouds last Friday for a little while! I quickly grab my camera- it had been a couple weeks since we had seen this bright light : )

Houston continues to charm us.

He is full of grins and actually giggled a few times yesterday.

Completely chessed out . . . . .

SMILES! by Houston

Hi, my name is Houston. I've learned how to smile now and I love it! I smile all the time now. I just love it when everybody talks and smiles at me. Today grandma even got me to smile at that ugly thing she calls a "camera". I could hear her voice and that was enough to make me smile.

I loooovvveeee sitting in my bouncy seat! Seriously, I can sit in that thing for an hour or two playing with the toys or just looking around. I kick my legs and wave my arms and really bounce that thing : )

Grandma says "Houston, you have a mouth just like your Daddy"! Grandma thinks I have the cutest mouth- Whatever, grandma !? And she says my nose is just like my Mommy.

And guess what? I'm growing like a weed! For a few weeks I had the worst cold ever and I didn't grow but now I'm feeling better and I'm getting soooo big.

With Mommy in college and preceptoring I get to spend alot of time with my Grandma Hoog and my Auntie Joni and Auntie Jen. Mommy is so ready to be done at College in May! She cuddles with me every day when she gets home and all evening long.

Sometimes I get to see and hear Daddy on "Skype"- I can hardly wait to feel his arms around me! Mommy and I will be soooo happy when he is home.

In a couple months I am going to move to a new house with Mommy. I'll even get my own bedroom!
It's been nice seeing you on the blog. I'm sure grandma will take more pictures soon!

Banquet 2011 and Dana, Houston Update

Tyler went "All Out" and rented a white tux for the banquet!
What a handsome dude!
Posing beside his car with our very picturesque corn crib (that thing has to go, or have some paint and new shingles).

Stay tuned and keep your eyes open for some pics of a few updates Ty did to his car this week.

The theme for the Banquet this year was "Winter in Paris". It took place in the Hudson Comm. Center. The junior class did a great job!

Tyler and his date . . . . . .

What started out as a tired and stressed out nap in the chair on Danas birthday . . . . . .
Turned out to be Brents army buddy, home on leave, delivering a card and flowers from Brent! She was surprised and delighted!

Houston had a major cold virus for the past week and a half. We all had it, one of the worst ever. Houston was under the weather with low grade fever and a miserable cough. He is doing better now and I plan to post more pictures - he smiles much easier now- maybe I can catch a few on camera.
