St. Pete's Beach

A few years ago when we went to Tampa I booked our getaway at a travel agency and we stay at a resort on St. Pete's Beach. We LOVE the beach here! It is an awesome stretch of beach for walking and experiencing the sights, smells and sounds of the ocean.
When we finished our visit with Kelley and Ava on Thursday we had a choice to either stay the night in Tampa or head for Orlando to catch our flight the next day. Gene was leaning toward going to Orlando because we had experienced a lot a traffic between Orlando and Tampa- the traffic stood still or moved verrrry slowly. Thursday was so rainy that you could hardly walk to the car, such downpours. So I checked the weather one more time on the internet and it looked like the rain was supposed to stop around 10 pm. Well, I didn't want to travel all the way to Florida and miss going to St. Pete's Beach so we headed south and stayed at the same resort we had a few years ago. The rain did indeed stop at 10pm and we walked in the dark along the water edge. The sound of the roaring waves is breath-taking! There are shells galore on this stretch of beach. As the tide goes out and comes back in it leaves a new batch of treasures for tourist to comb through.

The temp was a little chilly but the water was warm.

The beach is lined with a number of resorts. Most of them are very spendy but we stayed at an older resort- a little run down and loud but much more affordable, oh, and they have the best french fries at midnight : )
I thought the beach would be deserted at 6:30 in the morning but there were lots of people out walking, running, combing for shells and looking for treasures with metal detectors.

I can feel the waves coming in just looking at this picture.

The courtyard is so green and lush here! Bags packed, ready to hurry to the airport so we can wait for another delayed flight.

At least the Orlando airport had ice cream to help pass the time- ha ha
